renewable energy technologies

Secure your energy needs against the dependence of purchasing expensive non-renewable energy sources and save on carbon emissions

Living Logic will approve relevant renewable energy technologies suitable for incorporation into a new or existing building

Before installation of any renewable energy scheme we will work with you to ensure the building is:

  • Adequately insulated and draught proofed
  • The building has a valid Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) and is in a band ‘D’ or above – essential for some renewable energy schemes to be available for funding

Solar PV

Make money from your roof!

Solar PV Panels are a great way for a household or business to both save money on electricity bills and make money, with excess energy being sold off to energy companies under the Government’s Feed-in Tariff (FIT) scheme.

Solar panels can be integrated into a new roof for a seamless look, or for a cheaper option on a new build and for retro-fit, mounted onto a pitched slate or tiled roof.  For steel roofs clamp-mounted fittings can be used without interfering with the roof integrity, and for flat roofs panels can be mounted without requiring permanent penetrative fixing.

For commercial schemes a 90% funding package with 7 year payback period is available.  The scheme’s size will be structured so that repayments will be met by savings in electricity usage and FITs.

So if you have adequate surface area on your premises (roof, wall or land) contact us to find out more and utilise a realistic and feasible solution for reducing energy bills, increasing company revenue and securing your home or company’s energy needs for at least the next 20 years.

Renewable heating

Heat pumps

Heat pumps extract the warmth from the ground or air to provide heating for the building through the existing heating system, underfloor or warm air heating systems and also provide hot water.

  • Ground source heat pumps require a pipe network – from either horizontal approximately 1.5m under the ground or vertical boreholes, which can make installation costs prohibitive
  • Air source heat pumps are slightly less efficient but have much lower installation costs
  • Both forms can deliver heat at lower temperatures over much longer periods, unlike gas and oil boilers

For these forms of heating to be effective, due to producing heat at lower temperatures, it is essential the building has good insulation levels and the property is draft-proofed.

Therefore, when used in a new build or major renovation these forms of heating represent the best options, especially when combined with a solar PV scheme to make being off-grid a real possibility.

Both forms are eligible for RHI scheme payments and also businesses can qualify for Enhanced Capital Allowances and meet their Carbon Reduction Commitment.

Wood fuelled boilers

Wood fuelled boilers, or biomass, connect to a central heating and hot water system and are appropriate for domestic and non-domestic properties.  Burning logs, wood chippings or wood pellets, domestic biomass boilers can see savings of nearly £600 a year when compared to a boiler burning traditional fossil fuels, with the added bonus for households eligible to earn from heat generated under the Government’s RHI scheme.

Installing a biomass boiler is the perfect solution to any company currently off the mains gas grid, but you don’t have to be off grid to benefit – the cost saving over traditional fuels is excellent, up to 40% cheaper than alternative fossil fuels, and with the current RHI scheme you get paid to produce heat.  Considered to be a low-carbon technology, businesses can qualify for Enhanced Capital Allowances, improve their environmental profile and meet their Carbon Reduction Commitment.

BUSINESS BONUS…

Switch your business’s heating over to renewable energy for FREE!

The costs incurred to convert the heating system to a renewable energy may be offset by Enhanced Capital Allowances, allowing the company to write off the purchasing and installation costs against the business’s taxable profits in the financial year the purchase was made (solar thermal, air source and ground source heat pumps and biomass boilers are listed on the Energy Technology Criteria List).

So with costs covered, what reason is there to not make the switch and start saving money?
